20 Things I Learned in 2020


1. Being vulnerable in front of others does not mean weakness, in fact, they need to see it sometimes.

2. When you run out of things to say to motivate others, just say the truth.  They can handle it.

3. Even when you think you cannot go on, you can.

4. Learn how to give yourself grace.

5. Pray out loud when you feel helpless.

6. Go outside to clear your mind.

7. A focused team can do anything.

8. Crisis brings people together.

9. Talent may get someone somewhere, but it is character that will determine if they stay there.

10. People will shock you.

11. When your values/opinions do not line up with someone else’s, but the relationship is important enough, be sure not to drive a wedge between you by trying to force them to see your way.

12. It is never too late to reconnect with people from your past.

13. Be open to new things, you never know what you end up liking.

14. People support the cause, not the event. 

15. To truly tackle society’s issues, we must look through a lens of racial equality.

16. There is always time for self-care.

17. Fill time with meaningful things and you will realize you have time to do more.

18. Do the right thing.  It is always the right thing.

19. Organizational flexibility will make the difference in overcoming challenges.

20. Potty training is hard but eventually, it happens.
