Tuesday Talk: Favorite Meals - Local Las Vegas Gems

It’s the third Tuesday of the month and I’m linking up with Erika and Ashley for Tuesday Talk.  They say, “You can chat about ANYTHING, ask for ideas, share your thoughts, show us a new room, highlight new scarves, or more.  The topic is up to you.”  Well, today, I bestow upon you my favorite meals in Las Vegas at two local gem restaurants.  They’re too nice to be called holes in the wall, but they are off the beaten path.  The restaurants are not located on the Las Vegas Strip or anywhere new or modern, but the food is my favorite!  Honestly, they’re so good I just had to share them so if you haven’t tried them for yourself, you can add to your list to try in Las Vegas.

Cappelini Fruiti di Mare

This one I only recently found and where has it been all my life?  North Beach Italian Bistro is in the Northwest part of town, off Ann Road and US95 North.  It gets 4.5 stars on Yelp.  It’s a local business serving delicious Italian dishes.  Everything I’ve ever tried there has been so tasty.  I’ve tried several things from other people’s plates because I eat the same thing every time -  the Capellini Fruiti di Mare here is my all time favorite pasta!  The pasta is between an angel hair and spaghetti noodle.  It’s loaded with scallops, huge shrimps, lobster meat, as well as scallions and tomatoes in a seafood cream sauce for just $22.95.  The sauce is everything, I’m literally drooling as I type this.  Ha!

My tip:  go at 9 am on a weekday even though it's a ton of food that early.  Only time I've ever seen it with no line!

Seafood Pan Roast Combo

And next, hands down, my favorite meal in all of Las Vegas… it’s the Seafood Pan Roast at the Palace Station Oyster Bar.  Good gracious.  It also gets 4.5 stars on Yelp with over 2,000 reviews.  So here’s the thing - the oyster bar is a small 18-seat bar in the middle of the casino.  You know that a place is good when there’s consistently a line of people no matter what time of day, and what day of the week.  I’ve waited up to 2 hours before and the whole time, I think I was whining (#hangry) saying I’d never wait again like that.  Then we sat down and after one spoonful of the pan roast, I remembered why I’d be willing to wait any amount of time.  I think the place is actually known for their gumbo (or at least that’s what I always used to hear about), but they also serve things like raw oysters, cioppino, linguine with clams, chowders, the pan roast which is the subject of my devotion, and more.  Everything is made to order right in front of you on the bar and you customize your spice level, and what you want thrown in your gumbo or pan roast.  I get the Seafood Pan Roast Combo every single time.  It’s loaded with lobster, shrimp, crab, and the sauce is a creamy tomato brandy sauce.  I pick a spicy level of 2 (then I add hot sauce) with rice (and praise hands for serving steamed white rice).  I cannot even deal, it’s so good!  It’s $24.99 for a bowl but it’s a huge portion and well worth it.

This is literally all I’m discussing on this Tuesday Talk because I haven’t done a food post in awhile and honestly, it’s all you need in life.  Try it out and let me know what you think!

Happy eating, everyone!
